Project Overview: Cripp's Corner

Sedlescombe Organic Vinyard invited us to survey some anti-tank dragon's teeth on their land. We also had the opportunity to reconstruct a Second World War slit trench. An interpretation board for visitors charting the history of the wartime defences was designed and installed.

Description: Removal of vegetation from two groups of anti-tank blocks in the vineyard and design of an interpretation board. The foundation of one of the blocks was excavated. One was also painted with a camouflage scheme as described by archive documents of 1940.

Some graffiti (a representation of a robin) etched in render was found on one block. wartime barbed wire corkscrew pickets were found in an adjacent treeline and some excavated beside one of the blocks.
